Los Angeles
Golden State

[GOLDEN STATE] — The Golden State Warriors played host to the Los Angeles Lakers last night and the homeside took care of business. A 109-94 win has the Warriors and their fans feeling good about themselves heading forward. The win bumps Golden State's record up to 67-15 on the season, while the loss drags Los Angeles's down to 26-56. Though a win's a win and Warriors fans will settle for whatever they can get their hands on, there's plenty of room for improvement in the future. Games likes these are essential for any team with bigger aspirations.

Team results aside, a monster night from Kobe Bryant is all that fans will be talking about as they process the contest. Bryant pumped out a stat line of 60 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 blocks and 1 steals in 42 minutes on the night, quantifiable proof of his place among the top tier of NBA players. Unfortunately for Bryant, what really matters - the result on the scoreboard - still leans in favor of the Warriors. Perhaps continued performances like this one in the near future will get Los Angeles back in the win column before too long.

At the helm for the Warriors in the victory was Kevin Durant and while he may not have posted a more attractive statline than Bryant, he did help his club walk away with the victory. Durant posted 29 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the win.

From a personal standpoint, Kobe Bryant made his presence felt from beyond the arc, toying with defenders all night long and connecting on an impressive 6 bombs. Putting a stop to any NBA calibre talent is no easy task, but even more so when they're red-hot from beyond three-point range.

Golden State's offensive contributions were complemented from a decent showing on the defensive end of the ball. While they didn't exactly shut down the visiting Lakers, they did limit them to a point total in line with their season average. Not every performance can be a home run, so the Warriors will settle for the upper hand in this one.

Up next for the reeling Warriors will be a date with the while the visiting Lakers will look to bounce back in a matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans.
