[CLEVELAND] — The Cleveland Cavaliers played host to the Atlanta Hawks last night but don't think that the home cooking gave them any sort of advantage. The 100-114 loss has the Cavs and their fans cringing as they brace for their next opportunity to redeem themselves. The loss bumps Cleveland's record down to 51-28 on the season, while the victory gives Atlanta a 41-38 total on the year. It's not overly surprising that the Cavaliers would end up losing this one consider they did little to establish themselves as dangerous threats. Perhaps the showing can serve as an essential building block for the team in the days to come.

While there were no historic individual performances to speak of, LeBron James's 27 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 0 blocks and 2 steals in 41 minutes will serve fantasy owners well. Still, one can't be overly enthusastic about the numbers considering that even James himself would presumably trade the solid figures for a different result on the scoreboard. Needless to say, Cleveland will take any win they can get their hands on considering where they find themselves in the conference but this just wasn't one of them.

Also contributing for the slain Cavs was Kevin Love. Love's 15 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists did the team well, but not so well as to change the outcome. Perhaps they'll get more support from the rest of their unit in games to come.

Individual performances aside, if there's one area where the Cavaliers can improve, it's on the defensive side of the ball. Though Cleveland wasn't terrible in the ball game, there's no denying that a stricter focus on limiting their opponents could serve them well the next time they collide with a worthy foe.

The loss hurts for the homeside but they'll get their opportunity to regain ground in a pending matchup with the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks, meanwhile, will set their sights on a run-in with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
