[PHILADELPHIA] — The Philadelphia 76ers played host to the Brooklyn Nets last night but don't think that the home cooking gave them any sort of advantage. The 118-141 loss has the Sixers and their fans cringing as they brace for their next opportunity to redeem themselves. The loss bumps Philadelphia's record down to 28-50 on the season, while the victory gives Brooklyn a 19-59 total on the year. Though the loss stings nonetheless, 76ers fans can take solace in the fact that the club's offensive output was above and beyond what the team has displayed so far this season. It may not help come playoff time, but there are worse things than being outplayed by a solid opponent.

While there were no historic individual performances to speak of, Richaun Holmes's 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks and 1 steals in 24 minutes will serve fantasy owners well. Still, one can't be overly enthusastic about the numbers considering that even Holmes himself would presumably trade the solid figures for a different result on the scoreboard. Needless to say, Philadelphia will take any win they can get their hands on considering where they find themselves in the conference but this just wasn't one of them.

Also contributing for the slain Sixers was Timothe Luwawu. Luwawu's 19 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists did the team well, but not so well as to change the outcome. Perhaps they'll get more support from the rest of their unit in games to come.

It's game like this where it's clear that they can't all be victories. Though the 76ers would come out of this one empty handed they can rest assured that they did their jobs on the defensive end. Should Philadelphia maintain their defensive fortitude, it's likely that they'll find their way back into the win column soon enough.

The loss hurts for the homeside but they'll get their opportunity to regain ground in a pending matchup with the Chicago Bulls. The Nets, meanwhile, will set their sights on a run-in with the Orlando Magic.
