Dallas
New Orleans

[NEW ORLEANS] — The New Orleans Pelicans played host to the Dallas Mavericks last night and the hometown crowd got exactly what they paid for in the form of a hard-fought 121 to 118 Pellies victory. The win bumps New Orleans's record up to 32-43 on the season, while the loss drags Dallas's down to 31-43. More than just a victory, the performance could serve as a boost for the Pelicans. Having scored early and often against their opponents this time out, the club will look to capitalize on their momentum heading into their next contest.

An impressive performance from DeMarcus Cousins led all players in the contest and his 29 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 blocks and 0 steals in 40 minutes will make many-a-fantasy owner proud. Ask anybody, however - Cousins included - and the most important part is that the Pelicans walked away with the W. Each win adds up over the course of the season with the end goal being far more satisfying than a Tweetable stat line.

Joining Cousins in the winning effort was Anthony Davis. Had it not been for Davis rounding out the Pellies's attack with 30 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists of his own, we may have been looking at a different outcome.

Beyond any individual contributions, one of the major reasons why it was the Pelicans walking away victorious was New Orleans's ability to limit Dallas's offensive output. By holding the Mavs to less than they usually produce the Pelicans made their life considerably easier.

Up next for the reeling Pellies will be a date with the Sacramento Kings while the visiting Mavericks will look to bounce back in a matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies.
