Sacramento
Los Angeles

[LOS ANGELES] — The Los Angeles Clippers played host to the Sacramento Kings last night and Clips fans will wish that they could have another crack at this one. The narrow 97-98 defeat was and still is a tough one to swallow. The loss bumps Los Angeles's record down to 44-31 on the season, while the victory gives Sacramento a 28-45 total on the year. Disappointing from the opening tip, the Clippers did little to convince anyone that they deserved anything more than a big fat L in this one. Suffice it to say, they'll have plenty to talk about over the next few days.

While there were no historic individual performances to speak of, Chris Paul's 17 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists, 1 blocks and 1 steals in 31 minutes will serve fantasy owners well. Still, one can't be overly enthusastic about the numbers considering that even Paul himself would presumably trade the solid figures for a different result on the scoreboard. Needless to say, Los Angeles will take any win they can get their hands on considering where they find themselves in the conference but this just wasn't one of them.

Also contributing for the slain Clips was DeAndre Jordan. Jordan's 20 points, 11 rebounds and 0 assists did the team well, but not so well as to change the outcome. Perhaps they'll get more support from the rest of their unit in games to come.

Individual performances aside, if there's one area where the Clippers can improve, it's on the defensive side of the ball. Though Los Angeles wasn't terrible in the ball game, there's no denying that a stricter focus on limiting their opponents could serve them well the next time they collide with a worthy foe.

The loss hurts for the homeside but they'll get their opportunity to regain ground in a pending matchup with the Washington Wizards. The Kings, meanwhile, will set their sights on a run-in with the Memphis Grizzlies.
