Sacramento
Los Angeles

[LOS ANGELES] — The Los Angeles Clippers played host to the Sacramento Kings last night and Clips fans will wish that they could have another crack at this one. The narrow 97-98 defeat was and still is a tough one to swallow. The loss bumps Los Angeles's record down to 44-31 on the season, while the victory gives Sacramento a 28-45 total on the year. Disappointing from the opening tip, the Clippers did little to convince anyone that they deserved anything more than a big fat L in this one. Suffice it to say, they'll have plenty to talk about over the next few days.

While there were no historic individual performances to speak of, Chris Paul's 17 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists, 1 blocks and 1 steals in 31 minutes will serve fantasy owners well. Most importantly, the Kings managed to prevail where it mattered most and will happily add another victory to their season total. So long as Paul keeps producing at this rate and Sacramento keeps winning ball games, everybody - from fantasy owners to the team coaching and executive staff - will be more than satisfied.

Though Los Angeles didn't end up getting it done when it mattered most, DeAndre Jordan did walk away with the small consolation of an attractive 20 points, 11 rebounds and 0 assists. Whether another bright individual performance can help them get the result they want on the scoreboard next time, however, remains to be seen.

Individual performances aside, if there's one area where the Clippers can improve, it's on the defensive side of the ball. Though Los Angeles wasn't terrible in the ball game, there's no denying that a stricter focus on limiting their opponents could serve them well the next time they collide with a worthy foe.

The loss hurts for the homeside but they'll get their opportunity to regain ground in a pending matchup with the Washington Wizards. The Kings, meanwhile, will set their sights on a run-in with the Memphis Grizzlies.
