[PORTLAND] — The Portland Trail Blazers played host to the Milwaukee Bucks last night and Blazers fans will wish that they could have another crack at this one. The narrow 90-93 defeat was and still is a tough one to swallow. The loss bumps Portland's record down to 32-38 on the season, while the victory gives Milwaukee a 35-35 total on the year. Disappointing from the opening tip, the Trail Blazers did little to convince anyone that they deserved anything more than a big fat L in this one. Suffice it to say, they'll have plenty to talk about over the next few days.

An impressive performance from Damian Lillard led all players in the contest and his 31 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 0 blocks and 4 steals in 40 minutes will make many-a-fantasy owner proud. Still, one can't be overly enthusastic about the numbers considering that even Lillard himself would presumably trade the solid figures for a different result on the scoreboard. Needless to say, Portland will take any win they can get their hands on considering where they find themselves in the conference but this just wasn't one of them.

Unable to match Lillard's numbers, Giannis Antetokounmpo can rest assured that he bested his rival where it actually counts. Antetokounmpo's 22 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists led the Bucks in the winning effort.

At the end of the day, the homeside was beaten down in a performance that they stood little chance of winning. If there's one thing any coach will offer a team coming off of a loss like this one it's that success hinges on a better defensive output. Not only did the Bucks take advantage of Portland, they managed to put forth an offensive outburst far in excess of their season average. Portland knows this - as would any other NBA squad in their position, so don't be surprised if the Trail Blazers end up running plenty of laps after this one.

The loss hurts for the homeside but they'll get their opportunity to regain ground in a pending matchup with the Atlanta Hawks. The Bucks, meanwhile, will set their sights on a run-in with the Portland Trail Blazers.
