Sacramento
Orlando

[ORLANDO] — The Orlando Magic played host to the Sacramento Kings last night and Magic fans will wish that they could have another crack at this one. The narrow 115-120 defeat was and still is a tough one to swallow. The loss bumps Orlando's record down to 24-44 on the season, while the victory gives Sacramento a 26-41 total on the year. Though the loss stings nonetheless, Magic fans can take solace in the fact that the club's offensive output was above and beyond what the team has displayed so far this season. It may not help come playoff time, but there are worse things than being outplayed by a solid opponent.

On this night it was Elfrid Payton leading the show from a statistical perspective. His 13 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists, 1 blocks and 0 steals in 34 minutes topped all players in terms of general production. Still, one can't be overly enthusastic about the numbers considering that even Payton himself would presumably trade the solid figures for a different result on the scoreboard. Needless to say, Orlando will take any win they can get their hands on considering where they find themselves in the conference but this just wasn't one of them.

Also contributing for the slain Magic was Nikola Vucevic. Vucevic's 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists did the team well, but not so well as to change the outcome. Perhaps they'll get more support from the rest of their unit in games to come.

It's game like this where it's clear that they can't all be victories. Though the Magic would come out of this one empty handed they can rest assured that they did their jobs on the defensive end. Should Orlando maintain their defensive fortitude, it's likely that they'll find their way back into the win column soon enough.

The loss hurts for the homeside but they'll get their opportunity to regain ground in a pending matchup with the Golden State Warriors. The Kings, meanwhile, will set their sights on a run-in with the Phoenix Suns.
