[DETROIT] — The Detroit Pistons played host to the Charlotte Hornets last night and the Pistons did everything that was asked of them, walking away with the 114-108 victory. The win bumps Detroit's record up to 28-30 on the season, while the loss drags Charlotte's down to 24-33. More than just a victory, the performance could serve as a boost for the Pistons. Having scored early and often against their opponents this time out, the club will look to capitalize on their momentum heading into their next contest.

An impressive performance from Kemba Walker led all players in the contest and his 34 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 0 blocks and 2 steals in 42 minutes will make many-a-fantasy owner proud. Unfortunately for Walker, what really matters - the result on the scoreboard - still leans in favor of the Pistons. Perhaps continued performances like this one in the near future will get Charlotte back in the win column before too long.

At the helm for the Pistons in the victory was Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and while he may not have posted a more attractive statline than Walker, he did help his club walk away with the victory. Caldwell-Pope posted 33 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists in the win.

From a personal standpoint, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope made his presence felt from beyond the arc, toying with defenders all night long and connecting on an impressive 7 bombs. Putting a stop to any NBA calibre talent is no easy task, but even more so when they're red-hot from beyond three-point range.

Beyond any individual contributions, one of the major reasons why it was the Pistons walking away victorious was Detroit's ability to limit Charlotte's offensive output. By holding the Hornets to less than they usually produce the Pistons made their life considerably easier.

Up next for the reeling Pistons will be a date with the Boston Celtics while the visiting Hornets will look to bounce back in a matchup with the Sacramento Kings.
