Sports.ws Game Report
[OKLAHOMA CITY] — The Oklahoma City Thunder played host to the Memphis Grizzlies last night and the Thunder did everything that was asked of them, walking away with the 103-95 victory. The win bumps Oklahoma City's record up to 24-16 on the season, while the loss drags Memphis's down to 24-17. Though a win's a win and Thunder fans will settle for whatever they can get their hands on, there's plenty of room for improvement in the future. Games likes these are essential for any team with bigger aspirations.
An impressive performance from Russell Westbrook led all players in the contest and his 24 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists, 1 blocks and 2 steals in 36 minutes will make many-a-fantasy owner proud. Ask anybody, however - Westbrook included - and the most important part is that the Thunder walked away with the W. Each win adds up over the course of the season with the end goal being far more satisfying than a Tweetable stat line.
Joining Westbrook in the winning effort was Enes Kanter. Had it not been for Kanter rounding out the Thunder's attack with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists of his own, we may have been looking at a different outcome.
Oklahoma City's offensive contributions were complemented from a decent showing on the defensive end of the ball. While they didn't exactly shut down the visiting Grizzlies, they did limit them to a point total in line with their season average. Not every performance can be a home run, so the Thunder will settle for the upper hand in this one.
Up next for the reeling Thunder will be a date with the Chicago Bulls while the visiting Grizzlies will look to bounce back in a matchup with the Chicago Bulls.
Westbrook 65.0 FP
Kanter 45.5 FP
Conley 44.5 FP
