Detroit
Sacramento

[SACRAMENTO] — The Sacramento Kings played host to the Detroit Pistons last night and the Kings did everything that was asked of them, walking away with the 100-94 victory. The win bumps Sacramento's record up to 16-22 on the season, while the loss drags Detroit's down to 18-22. Though a win's a win and Kings fans will settle for whatever they can get their hands on, there's plenty of room for improvement in the future. Games likes these are essential for any team with bigger aspirations.

On this night it was DeMarcus Cousins leading the show from a statistical perspective. His 24 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 blocks and 1 steals in 30 minutes topped all players in terms of general production. Ask anybody, however - Cousins included - and the most important part is that the Kings walked away with the W. Each win adds up over the course of the season with the end goal being far more satisfying than a Tweetable stat line.

Though not quite able to steal the show, Andre Drummond did a fine job leading his ultimately unsuccessful Pistons. Drummond's 9 points, 12 rebounds and 1 assists were one bright spot for the team that spun out in the matchup.

From a personal standpoint, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope made his presence felt from beyond the arc, toying with defenders all night long and connecting on an impressive 6 bombs. Putting a stop to any NBA calibre talent is no easy task, but even more so when they're red-hot from beyond three-point range.

Sacramento's offensive contributions were complemented from a decent showing on the defensive end of the ball. While they didn't exactly shut down the visiting Pistons, they did limit them to a point total in line with their season average. Not every performance can be a home run, so the Kings will settle for the upper hand in this one.

Up next for the reeling Kings will be a date with the Cleveland Cavaliers while the visiting Pistons will look to bounce back in a matchup with the Golden State Warriors.
