Los Angeles

[HOUSTON] — The Houston Rockets played host to the Los Angeles Clippers last night and the homeside took care of business. A 140-116 win has the Rockets and their fans feeling good about themselves heading forward. The win bumps Houston's record up to 25-9 on the season, while the loss drags Los Angeles's down to 22-13. More than just a victory, the performance could serve as a boost for the Rockets. Having scored early and often against their opponents this time out, the club will look to capitalize on their momentum heading into their next contest.

Team results aside, a monster night from James Harden is all that fans will be talking about as they process the contest. Harden pumped out a stat line of 30 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists, 1 blocks and 5 steals in 33 minutes on the night, quantifiable proof of his place among the top tier of NBA players. Ask anybody, however - Harden included - and the most important part is that the Rockets walked away with the W. Each win adds up over the course of the season with the end goal being far more satisfying than a Tweetable stat line.

Though not quite able to steal the show, Montrezl Harrell did a fine job leading his ultimately unsuccessful Clippers. Harrell's 29 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists were one bright spot for the team that spun out in the matchup.

Perhaps just as significant if not more so than any individual performance, was Houston's ability to take the Clips out of their game. A stellar defensive performance by the Rockets helped insure the victory from the moment the two teams set foot on the court. Should the club continue to excel on both sides of the ball, the rest of the league better start planning accordingly.

Up next for the reeling Rockets will be a date with the New York Knicks while the visiting Clippers will look to bounce back in a matchup with the Phoenix Suns.
