[TORONTO] — The Toronto Raptors played host to the Cleveland Cavaliers last night and Raps fans will wish that they could have another crack at this one. The narrow 117-121 defeat was and still is a tough one to swallow. The loss bumps Toronto's record down to 7-3 on the season, while the victory gives Cleveland a 9-1 total on the year. Though the loss stings nonetheless, Raptors fans can take solace in the fact that the club's offensive output was above and beyond what the team has displayed so far this season. It may not help come playoff time, but there are worse things than being outplayed by a solid opponent.

An impressive performance from Kyle Lowry led all players in the contest and his 28 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, 0 blocks and 4 steals in 39 minutes will make many-a-fantasy owner proud. Still, one can't be overly enthusastic about the numbers considering that even Lowry himself would presumably trade the solid figures for a different result on the scoreboard. Needless to say, Toronto will take any win they can get their hands on considering where they find themselves in the conference but this just wasn't one of them.

Unable to match Lowry's numbers, LeBron James can rest assured that he bested his rival where it actually counts. James's 28 points, 9 rebounds and 14 assists led the Cavaliers in the winning effort.

It's game like this where it's clear that they can't all be victories. Though the Raptors would come out of this one empty handed they can rest assured that they did their jobs on the defensive end. Should Toronto maintain their defensive fortitude, it's likely that they'll find their way back into the win column soon enough.

The loss hurts for the homeside but they'll get their opportunity to regain ground in a pending matchup with the Golden State Warriors. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, will set their sights on a run-in with the Indiana Pacers.
