New Orleans
Golden State

[GOLDEN STATE] — The Golden State Warriors played host to the New Orleans Pelicans last night and the Warriors did everything that was asked of them, walking away with the 122-114 victory. The win bumps Golden State's record up to 1-1 on the season, while the loss drags New Orleans's down to 0-2. More than just a victory, the performance could serve as a boost for the Warriors. Having scored early and often against their opponents this time out, the club will look to capitalize on their momentum heading into their next contest.

Leading the way in one of the finest individual performances of the season was Anthony Davis. Davis's borderline-historic night of 45 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals in 39 minutes will be remembered as one of the nights he truly displayed why he's held in such regard at the NBA level. Unfortunately for Davis, what really matters - the result on the scoreboard - still leans in favor of the Warriors. Perhaps continued performances like this one in the near future will get New Orleans back in the win column before too long.

At the helm for the Warriors in the victory was Kevin Durant and while he may not have posted a more attractive statline than Davis, he did help his club walk away with the victory. Durant posted 30 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists in the win.

Perhaps just as significant if not more so than any individual performance, was Golden State's ability to take the Pellies out of their game. A stellar defensive performance by the Warriors helped insure the victory from the moment the two teams set foot on the court. Should the club continue to excel on both sides of the ball, the rest of the league better start planning accordingly.

Up next for the reeling Warriors will be a date with the while the visiting Pelicans will look to bounce back in a matchup with the .
